Terms of library loans
Library card
- To register for a library card, you must be 16 or older. Please note that you will be required to present valid photo ID. If you are under 16, you can register for a library card by having a legal guardian co-sign the terms of agreement.
- To borrow materials for home use, you must have a residential address in Sweden.
If you do not live in Sweden, you are still welcome to use our collections on-site at the library. - Your library account is personal, and you are responsible for all items borrowed under your name.
- You may borrow up to 75 items at a time, including a maximum of 14 complete orchestral sets.
- All borrowed material must be returned in good condition. You are responsible for returning items on time, even if you are travelling or unwell.
- By registering for a library card, you accept our handling of your personal data in accordance with the GDPR.
- You will automatically be added to our newsletter, but you can unsubscribe at any time.
Loan periods
- The standard loan period is 30 days.
- If no one else has reserved the item, you may renew it up to seven times. Each renewal adds another 30 days to your loan period.
- Loan period for orchestral materials is 60 days. If there is no queue, you may renew the loan up to three times (30 days per renewal).
- If more than two people are waiting for the same item, the loan period is shortened to 14 days.
- Always check your return date via your account or contact the library.
Some materials are reading room only and must be used on-site. These are labelled “Reading room loan” in the catalogue.
Individual parts from complete orchestral sets are usually available as reading room loans only.
Reminders and overdue notices
- You’ll receive a reminder 3 days before the due date.
- If you do not return your items, you will receive two overdue notices – one after 2 days and another one after 10 days.
- After the second notice, your account will be blocked from reserving or borrowing items. The block is lifted once the items are returned or the replacement fee is paid.
We offer reminders and overdue notices as a courtesy service, but we cannot guarantee delivery.
Collecting materials on someone else’s behalf
Someone else can collect materials for you if they bring your library card or photo ID.
Also, you can notify us in advance who will collect the materials – in that case, no ID is needed.

If items are not returned, you will receive an invoice after the second overdue notice.
