Welcome to borrow from our library
At the Music and Theatre Library, you can borrow everything from play scripts and sheet music to biographies and journals.
Requesting materials in advance
You’re welcome to visit the library to borrow materials. Most of our collections are stored in closed stacks, and we can usually retrieve the items while you wait. However, you can also request materials in advance through our online catalogue.
To request items online:
- Log in using your email address and the password you created for your library account. Read more about how to create an account.
- Search for the item you want to borrow.
- Click the ‘Reserve’ button.
- You’ll receive an email from us when your items are ready to collect.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, it may be listed in the Card Catalogue for Sheet Music or the Card Catalogue for Theatre Literature.
Suggest a purchase or interlibrary loan
If we don’t have the item you’re looking for, we may be able to purchase it or request it from another library.
To make a suggestion:
- Log in to your library account.
- Fill in the ‘Interlibrary Loan and Purchase Suggestion’ form.
- We’ll get back to you once we’ve reviewed your request.
Most purchases and interlibrary loans are free of charge, but some exceptions may apply – see our price list. We never place orders that involve a cost to you without your prior confirmation.
Archives and special collections
Materials from our archives and special collections usually take longer to retrieve.
