How to donate
Do you want to donate items related to music, theatre, or dance that should be preserved for the future?
We welcome donations from the public. Contact us, and we will assess whether the materials can be added to our collections. Please note that we do not accept unsolicited donations without prior agreement.
When reaching out about a donation, please provide:
- A detailed description of the material (type, content, and scope)
- Images or other documentation, if possible
- The current location of the material
- Ownership and copyright information
- For digital materials: data size and file format

Donations to other departments within Statens Musikverk
Are you unsure whether your donation should go to the Music and Theatre Library of Sweden? The library is a part of Statens Musikverk which includes other departments that also accept donations.
The Centre for Swedish Folk Music and Jazz Research collects materials related to folk music, ballads, early popular music, jazz, and traditional dance. For more information, visit their donation page here.
The Swedish Museum of Performing Arts collects materials related to theatre, music, and dance in Sweden. Examples of items we accept include stage costumes, sketches, musical instruments, photographs, scripts, and recordings. Donations can include physical as well as digital materials.
