The Music and Theatre Library of Sweden is open to everyone. Our users include private individuals and practitioners as well as teachers, students and researchers. <\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

There is plenty to borrow in the fields of music, theatre and dance. We also have a large collection of unique and historical material. The library staff will be happy to help you find whatever you are looking for.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

Your library card gives you access to hundreds of thousands of books and sheet music, over 40,000 play scripts, hundreds of journals and several music and theatre databases. <\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

The Music and Theatre Library of Sweden is located at Tegeluddsv\u00e4gen 100 in Stockholm. Here, you can get help searching for sheet music, literature, recordings and archive material. You can also copy or scan material for your own use.  For your convenience, the library has a reading room, bookable group rooms and rooms where you can listen to music, watch films or play the keyboard. We have free wifi.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

Unique historical material<\/h2>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

The library’s archives and collections contain material from people, organisations and institutions that have worked in the performing arts. Here, you can find letters, handwritten notes and manuscripts, mainly from the 16th-18th centuries. The oldest manuscript is a folded sheet of church music from around 1150. The library also has a large collection of photographs.<\/p>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

History of the Music and Theatre Library of Sweden<\/h2>\n<\/external-link-icon><\/div>\n\n

The Music and Theatre Library of Sweden was founded more than 250 years ago. The library was originally part of the Royal Academy of Music, founded in 1771.
